(As told by Duke Oleander Crystalfist ap Dougal in a public address 2005)
Prior to 1971, the Kingdom of Whitesands was controled and over-run by the most savage of Nunnehi. It was not until the rise of "Bloody" King Lenox that kithain stood better chances that outright slaughter at the hands of their foes. With the aid of Duke Crystalfist ap Dougal (then Baron) and the nobles of Whitesands, King Lennox won the realm and ruled for some years. In the year of 1971, the throne succeeded to Queen Morganna ni Gwydion. Although she was popular as a monarch and the people were generally happy, attacks of the Nunnehi still loomed over the Kingdom. Raids of pirates were much bolder and patrols, though fierce, were small. Queen Morgana drew up a divergent form of government, giving the Nunnehi a protected reservation and embracing the Commoners as her beloved subjects. The change was slow and the trust of both sides was frail. Every man, woman and child could feel the pain in the land and smell the faint scent of fae blood in the wind. In '72 Queen Morgana won two Duchies from Meilge in a gamble, increasing the size of the Kingdom by almost half. On top of a distrustful, battle-weary populace there now a large area of fae who were partial to another land. But they were Nobles, and they kept order.
As time passed, the love of the Queen could not be denied and even the most resistant Commoners turned opinion or fell to Banality. Tyranny was not tolerated in Nobles. Whitesands began to flourish in the subsequent decades and has became famous for its love of its residents. It seemed a golden time and Commoners became so accepting that a few took Baronies of their own and many served as loyal Knights. Queen Morgana commissioned the Order of the White Chrysanthemum and commoners flocked to it. Almost three decades it held, but that all ended in 2000. Brought on by some terrible anxiety of the turn of the century and an insolent fae, there rose a great Nervosa. The terrible, black-hearted Nockner rose to spoil the greatest celebration the Kingdom had ever seen. It was Beltane and all the Nobles of the Kingdom were gathered, including the late Duke and fiancé of the Queen. It was on that night when the Dragon attacked that Whitesands lost her Nobles. Slaughtered where they stood, slaughtered as they fought, the raking claws and stinking breath could not be denied. Many held in defense but were cast aside, their weapons assunder and ineffective. Only one brave young Sidhe was able to take effect, Baron Morning Glory was his name. Having been injured for the first time, wretched Nockner took flight but not before breathing a noxious cloud of mist that drove the few survivors into The Forgetting. So White Sands slept. Since that time fae have slowly begun to return from The Forgetting. Others faded as more chrysalised. The Kingdom has slowly rebuilt, becoming more harmonized as the memory of the more distant strife faded. For some. As a result of this new, delicate infancy the citizens have grown more accepting of new ways. Commoners have title and Sidhe ignore responsibility. The Noblise Oblige is Sidhe duty and it sickens more forward minded nobles that it is often shirked. At the same time, there is deep pride instilled toward those commoners who do not flinch under the burden of title and leadership. Now the Kingdom of Whitesands enters a new era, with the onset of Winter. The future is undetermined giving rise to new dreams.
